TrimSmart – User Instructions

The TrimSmart web app is available at app.onedesignsails.com. Follow these steps to ensure smooth setup and use:

1️⃣ Enable Location Services

TrimSmart uses location data to provide accurate wind information. Please enable location services in your browser and device settings:

On iPhone (Safari):

• Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services

• Check App Clips and allow Safari to access your location

On Android (Chrome):

• Open Settings → Location

• Ensure location access for Chrome is enabled

2️⃣ Add TrimSmart to Your Home Screen (Recommended)

For faster access, add TrimSmart as an app-like icon on your device:

• On iOS (Safari):

  1. Open app.onedesignsails.com

  2. Tap the Share icon

  3. Select “Add to Home Screen”

   

• On Android (Chrome):

  1. Open app.onedesignsails.com

  2. Tap the three-dot menu (top right)

  3. Select “Add to Home Screen”

   

3️⃣ Login Options

You can log in using:

• Your personal access code, or

• NFC chip on your sail

If your access code is lost or expired, please contact sails@onedesignsails.com.

🔐 Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Setup Guide

When you first log in with your NFC ID, you’ll be prompted to set up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).

Step 1: Download Google Authenticator

For iPhone:

• Open the App Store

• Search for “Google Authenticator” (by Google LLC)

• Download here

For Android:

• Open the Google Play Store

• Search for “Google Authenticator” (by Google LLC)

• Download here

Step 2: Add Your TrimSmart Account

1. Open the Google Authenticator app

2. Tap “+” to add a new account

3. Select “Enter a setup key”

4. Enter:

   • Account name: TrimSmart Sailing

   • Setup key: (copy the key displayed on your screen)

   • Type: Time-based (default)

    

5. Tap “Add”

💡 Tip: Ensure you copy the setup key exactly as shown.

Step 3: Verify Your Setup

• Open Google Authenticator and find the 6-digit code for TrimSmart Sailing

• Enter this code in the verification field

• Tap “Verify & Continue”

⏱ Codes refresh every 30 seconds. Use the current code.

Step 4: Save Recovery Codes

After verification, you’ll see 10 recovery codes:

• Write them down or take a screenshot

• Store them securely (not only on your phone)

• Each code is single-use

⚠️ Important: Without recovery codes, you cannot log in if you lose your phone.

Step 5: Complete Setup

• Tap “Complete Setup”

• (Optional) Check “Remember device for 30 days” for faster login on trusted devices

You’re now protected with 2FA.

🔑 Lost recovery codes:

• Contact sails@onedesignsails.com

• Identity verification is required to reset 2FA

🌬 Wind Data & Manual Input

TrimSmart fetches wind data from the nearest weather station.

Since this may not always match on-water conditions, you can manually input wind strength for better accuracy.

The app will then recommend optimized sail settings.

🧭 Help & Tuning Guide

Each setting includes a “Help” link that redirects to onedesignsails.com/tuning, where you’ll find detailed tuning guidance.

You can also:

• Customize and save factory settings

• Revert to factory settings anytime with a single tap
