We have introduced our Flying Phantom decksweeper sails in the autumn of 2017. Martin Fischer contacted us if we can make him a set of sails as he wanted to fly above the water. So we designed him one!

"Pierre and I, we both feel that we made a huge step forward since we use your sails. Upwind they are definitely easier to handle and quicker, downwind the control is also much better and we feel that we can keep a high speed over a longer period under perfect control."

Flying Phantom Sail Details

MAINSAIL

The Flying Phantom mainsail is designed with a smaller head, a middle-sized DS part, with the well-known, 1D Sails flap system. The sail is with a boom, and the center effort is kept pretty low. The Fiberfoam battens are tie-in construction, with the well known 1D batten terminals. The luff rope is the 1D Teflon rod for maximum sail control. Material wise we use the 1D formula membrane with Technora fibers.

JIB

The jib is made to fit the mainsail as much as possible. While the jib is a must-have, the design of it rarely changes compared to the mainsail. The 1D jib has a flatter and a little over-reinforced top part for ultimate twisting, positive, elliptical roach. Battens are made of velcro, and the material is the same 1D formula membrane with technora fibers as the mainsail.

GENNAKERS

The Flying Phantom’s gennaker was designed with maximum performance in mind, but for a flying boat the appropriate shape was indispensable! It’s made of polyester to achieve the appropriate strength, and we’ve maximised the angle, for easy maneuverability and maximum speed.
